Author's Name: Tagore Rabindranath
Rabindranath Tagore FRAS, sobriquet Gurudev, was a Bengali polymath from the Indian subcontinent, a poet, musician and artist. He reshaped Bengali literature and music, as well as Indian art with Contextual Modernism in the late 19th and early 20th.
Chitra (1913), a lyrical drama, is the translation of Chitrangada (1892). It is based on a story from Mahabharata. The English translation, in Edward Thompson’s words, presents ‘an interesting study of Tagore’s method and is the best example of his insight into another language…’
