About Book
Contemporary Nepali Poetry, i.e, Nepali poetry produced by those who have come to the fore in the last one and half decades or so, is mainly in keeping with the tradition of Rimal and Bhupi, although there are poets writing under the influence of the classical tradition of Lekhnath, romantic tradition of Devkota and neo-modernist tradition of Mohan Koirala. It is also true that contemporary Nepali poetry suffers from the repetition of the themes and imitative styles. In fact, none of the contemporary poets has been able to improve upon, either in terms of its content or form, where Nepali poetry was left behind by Bhupi. His Ghumne Mech Mathi Andho Manche, a collection of his poems, published in 1968, remains the last milestone Nepali poetry.
