Dating back to 1660, Mount Gay is one of the oldest estates in the Caribbean and certainly one of the oldest in Barbados. It was established by Dr. William Gay. Originally called 'Mount Gilboa', the estate is located in the northern parish of Saint Lucy and was renamed in 1801. There is evidence that there was distilling equipment in the region in 1663, so rum has probably been in production at Mt. Gay since. A tattered little deed confirms that rum production on the estate was well underway in 1703.
Named after a total solar eclipse that occurred on Barbados in 1910. Mount Gay Eclipse Silver is distilled from both column and copper pot stills, and then triple filtered.
Mount Gay Eclipse Silver is made from only the finest sugar cane & pure coral-filtered spring water. It is distilled from both column stills & copper pot stills & then filtered three times - a special complex method that ensures an incomparable smoothness and separates Mount Gay Eclipse Silver from other classical white rums. Eclipse Silver is an exquisite, light-bodied spirit of exceptional flavour and exceedingly smooth character. As infinitely pure as crystalline water used in its making, Eclipse Silver is a tribute to the sparkling sea, winding rivers and cascading waterfalls of Barbados Island. Clean and aromatic, it offers a balanced, mellow harmony of sugar cane syrup and banana, infused with notes of peppermint and citrus.
